Admission in Top B.Pharma Colleges 2018





Post-independence the pharmacy education in India has undergone tremendous changes to meet the requirements of Industry and community at large.The Diploma on Pharmacy is able to meet the requirements of community and hospital stores only partly. The degree program (BPharm) is developed to address all other demands of the profession of pharmacy. However, BPharm education today is facing the challenge of meeting the changing needs of industry. The four-year BPharm course offered by Manipal  College of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Manipal Academy of Higher Education, is prepared considering the needs of industry, which gives more impetus for skill development. Thus, BPharm graduates can don the roles like Industrial pharmacist (Manufacturing, Packaging, Quality Control and Quality Assurance), Hospital and Community Pharmacist (Dispensing of Medicines and Counselling of patients), Sales and Distribution executive (Detailing to doctors and bulk distribution of medicines), Academic Pharmacist (training diploma in pharmacy students). With higher qualification, MPharm, a person could land jobs in pharma industry in several niche areas, including research, regulatory affairs, new formulation development, marketing and administration. With experience, an aspirant can move up the ladder to occupy senior positions in pharmaceutical companies getting hefty pay and perks.


PROGRAMME EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES (PEO)


Our institution endeavours to nurture an attitude conducive to self-learning and life-long learning that would;
Not only provide comprehensive pharmaceutical education leading to BPharm Degree, but also integrate professional knowledge and skills with research competencies. 
Cultivate an inclination for higher learning, entrepreneurial abilities and research. 
Empower and sensitize pharmacists to serve the societal needs of health care system. 
Provide experiential hands-on training with the help of state of the art infrastructure and motivated, competent teaching faculty. 


PROGRAMME OUTCOMES (PO)


The graduate student at the end of the BPharm program will be able to face the challenges of the profession of pharmacy in the constituent disciplines namely, Industry, Practice (Community and Hospital) and Research as described below; 

Demonstrate knowledge and skills that translate into problem solving abilities related to the day to day professional needs of the pharmaceutical industry, regulatory bodies and community pharmacy.
Demonstrate the ability to apply the acquired knowledge into providing preliminary solutions in specific areas such as the synthesis, formulation, and quality assurance involved in the process of pharmaceutical manufacture.
Understand the importance of applying pharmacodynamic and pharmacokinetic principles in in formulation development and product development.
Demonstrate entry level skills in interpreting regulatory norms of the country and the skills to apply such knowledge in various processes such as drug discovery and development, clinical trials, manufacture, distribution, marketing and sale of medicines.
Demonstrate that the candidate is prepared to present a personal view founded on observing, understanding, documenting compiling, analyzing, organizing data and information; eventually converting the such information with judgement and sensitivity in the healthcare domain, especially pharmaceutical products and practices.
Demonstrate standards of digital literacy befitting a discerning end user, especially in identifying and evaluating appropriate software tools that would support professional needs in manufacture, patient care, hospital administration etc.
Enable effective communication skills in professional and personal domains: To speak, read, comprehend, interpret and write logically and effectively with focus.
Cultivate a sense of compliant partnering spirit in professional duties; especially in aligning with diverse health professionals and communities.
Demonstrate a capacity to engage superiors, colleagues and subordinates in problem-based learning approaches.
Create awareness in society about the effective and safe use of medicines.
Demonstrate the potential to tackle future challenges through lifelong learning.
Demonstrate sensitivity to potential conflicts of interest in healthcare systems and its implementation.
Cultivate a sense of commitment to minimizing hazards ranging from improper clinical use of drugs to its Industrial scale manufacture. To minimize environmental hazards of manufacturing practices, wasteful expenditure of energy, pollution from effluents and emissions.
Cultivate a sense of fair play, sensitivity to professional ethical codes of conduct, social values and respect for democratic institutions. 
To cultivate gender-neutral attitudes and practices; respect for all races, nations, Religions, cultures, languages and traditions.
Cultivate a temperament that would enable individuals to set and work towards self-driven performance-goals, entrepreneurial ventures and overall leadership.

ASSESSMENT

Three sessional exams are conducted in each subject and the average calculated as best 2 out of 3.
Sessional exams are conducted by internal examiners, whereas university papers are evaluated by both external and internal examiners and the average is taken.
Theory examination pattern: section A: long essays; section B: short essays; section C: give reasons for the following.
Practical examination pattern: spotters, synopsis, major experiment, minor experiment and viva-voce.
Attendance: 75% is the minimum attendance required to be eligible to appear for the university exams.


ELIGIBILITY

Duration: 4 years
Citizenship: Indian nationals.
Date of Birth: Only those whose date of birth falls on or before 31.12.2001 are eligible.
Qualification: Pass in 10+2 examination with Physics, Chemistry and English with Mathematics or Biotechnology or Computer Science or Biology as optional subjects.
Admissions
General Category: Admissions are done on the basis of rank in the All India Manipal Academy of Higher Education Online Entrance Test (MAHE-OET) 2018.

Note: Candidates can apply both under General and Foreign/NRI categories. Change of category from Foreign/NRI to General after admission will not be entertained under any circumstances.
Note: Candidates who have passed 10+2 from national open school are eligible for admission under the Pharmacy Act.
